Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation and treatment plan
This is a term used to describe the initial appointment between the client and the provider. This appointment lasts about 1 hour and provides the provider an opportunity to know the client. The provider may ask questions about the client’s medical and psychiatric history, life experiences, stressors, current, past moods, and behaviors.
This information allows the provider to identify and differentiate which symptoms are most bothersome for the individual. Once this determination has been identified, the provider can then determine the best strategy to address the client’s symptoms, collaborate with the client to develop a personalized treatment plan and approach.
