Appointments are tele-psychiatry conducted via a HIPAA-compliant platform. In-person appointments are only required for DEA compliance and any necessary in-person assessments. Please note that ADHD evaluations are conducted over two appointments and one is required in person.

Tele-Psychiatry

Telepsychiatry allows for the delivery of mental health care through videoconferencing. What exactly does that mean? That means that while Center Balance is located in Lake Oswego Oregon, patients can reside anywhere within the state of Oregon.

Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation and treatment plan

This is a term used to describe the initial appointment between the client and the provider. This appointment lasts about 1 hour and provides the provider an opportunity to know the client. The provider may ask questions about the client’s medical and psychiatric history, life experiences, stressors, current, past moods, and behaviors.

This information allows the provider to identify and differentiate which symptoms are most bothersome for the individual. Once this determination has been identified, the provider can then determine the best strategy to address the client’s symptoms, collaborate with the client to develop a personalized treatment plan and approach.

Integrated psychotherapy and medication management- Follow-up appointments

Medication management is often used to treat psychiatric disorders in combination with therapy and life style changes. It is important to understand that while a medication may work for one person, may not work for a different person. Also, different people require different doses of medication, and it may take time to find the right medication AND the right dose.

Through the process your treatment goals, thoughts and feelings about medications will be part of the decision process. Options, treatment rationales and education will also be provided to help guide you in making informed decisions that fit your goals.

Psychotherapy integrated with medication management may include: assessments, health education, lab review, personal skills, parenting skills, CBT, Behavioral modification, grief work, insight oriented, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based CBT, and solution-focused therapy to name a few.
